Update on COVID-19 (March 26)

The number of cases in Canada is up to 3385 today from 158 on March 14th.

In Alberta the number of cases is up to 419 today from 29 cases on March 14th.

It is >20-fold increase for canada and >10- fold increase in Alberta in less than two weeks. The number of suspected community transmission cases is also raising i.e not travel- related.

Five cases in Lethbridge areas and all cases are travel- related. This number has been stable, Alhamdullah, in the last three days.

What can we do to protect ourselves , our families and the rest of the community:
1- Stay home unless it is absolutely necessary. Stay connected with family and friends through phones and other social media.
2- Avoid unnecessary travel outside Lethbridge as much as you can unless it is absolutely needed. 60% of Alberta cases are in the Calgary zone (250 out of 419 cases).
3- Avoid social gathering at your own places for dinners and other personal social activities.

If you haven’t taken the matter seriously yet, please do so now before it is too late. Those measures are less effective unless everyone is doing his part. Everyone should be responsible and at least protect yourself and your own family including your own children.
May Allah protect all of you

True believer, is The Generous One
One of the door that Allah has opened to His slaves to gain big rewards in the month Ramadan is through sadaqa (giving charity/alms). Islam always advise it’s followers to give plenty of charities, especially during the month Ramadan.

1. Giving alms can erase one’s sins
The messenger of Allah -peace and prayer of Allah be upon him- said:
والصدقة تطفىء الخطيئة كما تطفىء الماء النار
“Giving alms can erase sins just like water ceases fire.” (Narrated by Tirmidhi, classed sahih by Al Albani in Shahih At Tirmidzi, in hadith no. 614)

2. One who gives alms will be rewarded a shade in the Last Day
The messenger of Allah -peace and prayer of Allah be upon him- told about the 7 groups of people who will get shade on the day where there are no shade but from Allah, that is the Last Day. One of the groups is:
رجل تصدق بصدقة فأخفاها، حتى لا تعلم شماله ما تنفق يمينه
“a man who gives charitable gifts so secretly that his left hand does not know what his right hand has given.” (Narrated by. Bukhari in hadith no. 1421)

3. Giving alms gives bless to one’s wealth The messenger of Allah -peace and prayer of Allah be upon him- said:
ما نقصت صدقة من مال وما زاد الله عبدا بعفو إلا عزا
“Wealth will not be decreased by giving by giving charity. And a forgiving slave must be rewarded by Allah with authority.” (Narrated by Muslim, no. 2588)

4. Allah will double fold the reward of the alms giver
Allah the Exalted decreed,
“Verily those who give alms – be they men or women, -and give Allah a beautiful loan shall be repaid after increasing it many times; and theirs shall be a generous reward.” (Qs. Al Hadid/The Iron: 18)

5. There is a door of Paradise that’ll only be entered by the alms giver
“Whoever gives two kinds (of things or property) in charity for Allah’s Cause, will be called from the gates of Paradise and will be addressed, ‘O slaves of Allah! Here is prosperity.’ So, whoever was amongst the people who used to offer their Salat (prayers), will be called from the gate of the salat ; and whoever was amongst the people who used to participate in Jihad, will be called from the gate of Jihad ; and whoever was amongst those who used to observe fasts, will be called from the gate of Ar-Raiyan ; whoever was amongst those who used to give As-Sadaqa (charity), will be called from the gate of As-Sadaqa.” (Narrated by Bukhari in hadith no. 3666, Muslim no. 1027)

6. Giving alms is the proof of faith
The messenger of Allah -peace and prayer of Allah be upon him- said:
والصدقة برهان
“Alms is a proof.” (Narrated by Muslim in hadith no. 223)
An Nawawee explained that: “It means the proof or evidence of the true faith the giver possesses. Hence alms (sadaqa) is termed likewise, because it is the proof of the truth of his faith (Shidqu Imanihi)”

Ibn Maajah (738) narrated from Jaabir ibn 'Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever builds a mosque for the sake of Allah, like a sparrow's nest or even smaller, Allaah will build for him a house in Paradise."

The mosque being a non-profit organization and is financed mainly from donations. Public donations are very important to ensure the well-being of the mosque in terms of meeting its operational costs and maintenance.

THE IMPORTANCE OF CHARITY

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "The believer's shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity." - Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 604
The Prophet also said: "Every act of goodness is charity." - Sahih Muslim, Hadith 496

EVERY MUSLIM MUST GIVE IN CHARITY

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
"Every Muslim has to give in charity." The people then asked: "(But what) if someone has nothing to give, what should he do?" The Prophet replied: "He should work with his hands and benefit himself and also give in charity (from what he earns)." The people further asked: "If he cannot find even that?" He replied:
"He should help the needy who appeal for help." Then the people asked: "If he cannot do (even) that?" The Prophet said finally: "Then he should perform good deeds and keep away from evil deeds, and that will be regarded as charitable deeds."
  - Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 2, Hadith 524

Please donate and support the mosque!

(The following message was posted during last RAMADAN, 2013)
During these last ten days, it is important to take time to try and improve ourselves. The night of power is amongst these final days, and we should follow the example of the Prophet (SAWS) in our acts of worship and remembrance of Allah (WST).

Aisha (RA) narrated that, “The Prophet (SAWS) used to strive hard (in worship) during the last ten days of
Ramadan in a way that he
(SAWS) did not strive at any other time.” [Muslim] This includes devoting extra effort on your prayers, supplications, patience, forgiveness, and charity.

As you know, giving is one of the noblest acts of worship and it is something synonymous with Ramadan. The Beloved Prophet (SAWS) was asked which the best type of charity was, he (SAWS) replied, “the charity of Ramadan.” [Tirmidhi]. With opportunity to receive such special benefits, please use this time to support the mosque, Lethbridge Muslim Association.
